Patron Barcode / Library Card Number

Patrons are uniquely identified by their library card barcode number. Patron Barcodes are printed on plastic cards with the OWWL logo on the front (blue/green design for InSystemPatrons and yellow/purple design for OutOfSystemPatrons), and statement of responsibility and signature area on the back. Signing LibraryCardPurchase implies an acceptance of resposibility to follow library policies, rules, and regulations.

  • A library card barcode is assigned during the PatronRegistration? process
  • The current library card barcode is also referred to as the ActiveBarcode
  • If a library card is lost, a new library card barcode can be assigned using the MarkPatronBarcodeLost? feature
  • Once a barcode has been marked lost, it becomes an InactiveBarcode
  • Duplicate records can be merged together? - be sure that the records are, in fact, for the same person
  • There is no way to delete a patron record - search first to avoid creating duplicate records

Patron records can be accessed by barcode? by clicking CheckOut? or by searching by name using PatronSearch. Once the PatronAccount? is opened, staff can perform any circulation function.

See LibraryCardPurchase for ordering information.
