Find Another [Hold] Target

Also refered to as "re-targeting" a hold. This feature allows staff to force the system to scan for all copies that could potentially be captured to fill the hold request. This does not change the hold Request Date or change other hold details.

Use the Find Another Target function when handling:

  • Old Holds (holds that have remained unfilled for more than 2 months)
  • Holds that are associated with items that have since been marked missing, often in conjunction with OldTransitItems
  • Holds that seem to have been "Waiting for copy" or "Waiting for capture" for a unusually long time (note, if the patron account is blocked, holds will NOT be captured)

Holds can be re-targeted from the PatronAccount > Holds? List OR from the Catalog > ViewHolds list.

  1. Retrieve the Patron's Holds list or the title record Holds list
  2. Highlight the hold to re-target, right click
  3. Select Find Another Target
  4. At the Resetting Holds pop-up, click Yes
  5. The Holds list will refresh
    • If another copy is available in a library, the barcode number associated with the hold will change, and the hold status will be Waiting for Capture
    • If no copies are available, no barcode will display, and the hold status will be be Waiting for Copy
    • If the current copy is the ONLY copy available, no change will be made
